We asked her a few questions to get to know her better.

Judith Meyers

What has been your favorite part about Fox Chapel Area so far?

I love the strings students! The excitement and passion they bring to their lessons makes my job so much fun.

Who was your favorite teacher growing up, and why?

It’s hard to pick one, because I had a lot of music teachers who inspired me growing up in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. A few favorites were my middle school orchestra/strings teachers, Dale Hertrick and Dena Miller, and my high school strings teacher, Ray Eichenmuller. They all challenged me to be my best, introduced me to amazing music, taught me to express myself, and made orchestra a place where I felt at home.

What led you to a career in education?

I felt so grateful for the musical experiences I had at school and wanted to give back by helping to share music with the next generation. That is still my inspiration every day!

Do you have a favorite cafeteria food?

I’m more of a lunch packer, but I always love pizza.

On the weekends, what can you be found doing?

I love to go on hikes with my husband, spend time with friends and family, and play the violin.

What's one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?

I spent my junior year of high school as an exchange student in Belgium.

Favorite vacation destination?

Anywhere with mountains--I loved Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

What three things are always in your refrigerator?

Cheese, pickles, and hummus

What's the one thing you can't live without?

If you could have anyone narrate your life, who would it be?

Werner Herzog (German film director, screenwriter, author, actor, and opera director)
