WPIAL Food Drive Will Kick Off October 1

Fox Chapel Area High School is participating in the WPIAL Food and Fund Drive Challenge to support the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. The drive in the Fox Chapel Area School District will kick off at the October 1, 2021, homecoming football game. Fans are asked to bring a food item to donate. The collection at the Fox Chapel Area High School homecoming game is sponsored by the Fox Chapel Educators Association.

After homecoming, at every home sports event until October 23, the district will hold a non-perishable food donation drive that will support the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and, locally, North Hills Community Outreach. Other donations being accepted include paper products, household items, and hygiene items. Please do not bring glass items.

Monetary donations can be given online at pittsburghfoodbank.org/wpial.

School districts across Western Pennsylvania will be participating in the WPIAL Food and Fund Drive Challenge, with the WPIAL setting a goal to raise $50,000 to help feed families in the greater Pittsburgh area. If the goal is reached, the local food banks can provide up to 250,000 meals to the children, families, and seniors they serve. For every dollar raised, the food bank can provide up to five meals. Schools that provide the most meals will be recognized at this year’s Sportsmanship Summit.
